Great Show

Was Switchfoot totally sick the other night? Why, yes, yes they were! I wasn't sure we'd make it after the Monday we'd had, but we'd bought the tickets a long time ago, and Janie felt well enough - so I drove a handful of kids up to Burlington. Small, venue, only 200-300 people. Jon Foreman got down in the crowd and stood directly in front of Daniel. Crazy and fun!

  1. Man, I love their sound, and their stance!

BTW - I just noticed you live in Rutland . . . I visited Vermont for the first time at the end of October. Flew into Burlington, traveled downstate and stayed in Rutland! I knew Vermont was a beautiful place, but seeing it firsthand was amazing. I underestimated how rugged it is - Green Mountains indeed!

  2. Yep, Vermont is rugged...and we're feeling it these days...brrr! Glad you were here and got to experience this beautiful little corner of God's creation...sorry to have missed you!

Hey, I don't know if people come back to their own comments on blogs, but, Blaine, I was wondering how you might put into words what Switchfoot's 'stance' is, and how one might know what it is.....

  3. Well, I did check back! Haha. I've always loved Switchfoot. Their sound has the hook that I really like, I guess. The song that cemented my opinion of them is "Instead of a Show". I just heard it recently, and it's just straight Scripture (from Isaiah and Amos). Any well known and celebrated performer/artist who KNOWS the Scripture like this and chooses THESE words of God to sing . . . well, that says a lot. :) Here's the vid:
